With an purpose to chop delays in visa processing in India, which is already over 500 days, the US Embassy in India has launched a brand new initiative whereby Indian residents who’re travelling overseas can get a visa appointment on the US embassy or Consulate of their vacation spot. So as to minimize delays in visa processing in India, the US has launched initiatives like together with scheduling particular interviews for first time candidates and growing energy of consular workers.


As a part of the multi-pronged method to chop the visa backlog, the US embassy in Delhi and the consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad carried out “particular Saturday interview days” on January 21.


“On January 21, the US mission in India launched the primary in a collection of particular Saturday interview days, as half of a bigger effort to scale back wait instances for first-time visa candidates,” the US embassy stated on Sunday.


“The US Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad all opened consular operations on Saturday to accommodate candidates who require in-person visa interviews,” it stated in a press release.


The mission will proceed to open “extra slots” for appointments to happen on choose Saturdays within the coming months.


“These extra interview days are only one part of a multi-pronged initiative to handle the backlog in visa processing attributable to Covid-19,” it stated.
