Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and three Democrat lawmakers request that the U.S. Dept. of Justice examine Warner Bros. Discovery (NASDAQ:WBD) deal over alleged anticompetitive habits a 12 months after it was accomplished.

“The antitrust legal guidelines search to advertise client alternative, product selection, and business innovation,” Warren alongside Joaquin Castro (D-TX), David Cicilline (D-RI) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) wrote in a letter to the DOJ on Friday. “Accordingly, if a consummated merger leads to dramatically much less out there content material and discourages innovation, the merger needs to be reassessed.”

Warren and the three representatives declare that the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) deal has led to decreased client alternative and harmed staff in affected labor markets.

Following the deal, WBD introduced job cuts and product cancellations together with cancelling a number of titles, together with “Batgirl ” “Gordita Chronicles,” “Demimonde,” and “The Time Traveler’s Spouse,” in keeping with the letter.

“Warner Bros. Discovery has decreased the content material out there to shoppers and can doubtless proceed to restrict client alternative with out ample comp,” the lawmakers wrote.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) was created a 12 months in the past when Discovery mixed with AT&T’s (T) WarnerMedia unit.

Sen. Warren has been busy making an attempt to oppose consolidation and has focused different offers up to now 12 months, together with transaction within the healthcare, banking and aerospace industries. Warren wrote a letter to the FTC in January expressing her issues about Amgen’s (AMGN) plan to purchase Horizon Therapeutics (HZNP). In late January Warren urged the FTC to dam L3Harris’s (LHX) deliberate acquisition of Aerojet Rocketdyne (AJRD), arguing it might cut back competitors within the protection business.
