Survey finds 0% of businesses believe they have ‘comprehensive’ international trade support from government

Not one of the UK companies responding to analysis by the British Chambers of Commerce stated they consider they’ve “complete assist” from the federal government to handle commerce coverage modifications.

The report surveyed 939 companies, 40% of which had been exporters. Only 13% felt they get enough assist for worldwide commerce, whereas 32% and 31% thought they both haven’t a lot assist or no assist in any respect.

When requested about authorities assist, 41% of the exporters stated they don’t have a lot assist and 32% no assist in any respect. Solely 17% stated they’re getting enough assist and, once more, none believed they get complete assist. 

The report stated enhancements to digital commerce processes would make worldwide commerce faster, easier and cheaper for SMEs. It stated a joint plan ought to be launched between the federal government and companies to handle digital commerce.  

William Bain, head of commerce coverage on the British Chambers of Commerce, stated: 

“Our analysis is clear, UK exporters are navigating commerce coverage modifications largely alone. 

“At a time when the worldwide commerce panorama is altering continually, companies inform us complete assist from authorities is missing. Many companies really feel they’re getting little or no recommendation. 

“To assist develop the economic system and preserve the UK aggressive, we want a joint plan between authorities and enterprise to drive ahead digital commerce. Standing nonetheless isn’t an choice.  

“The UK has actual strengths in digital commerce documentation and world class non-public sector functionality. These strengths should be urgently harnessed alongside complete assist to exporters throughout the UK.”
