My high-powered, six-speed Opel was stranded … stopped partway by way of a flip onto a slender, cobblestoned road, a lot to the annoyance of the pedestrians surrounding the automotive and the drivers behind me. Trying up on the tall stone buildings lining the road simply 10 ft aside, it was clear that the thoroughfare my lodge was on was designed for riders on horseback … a very long time in the past.
