UnitedHealth to clear B medical claims affected by hack

UnitedHealth (NYSE:UNH) stated that the corporate is able to clear a backlog of greater than $14B in medical claims as its software program purposes affected by the latest cyberattack on its Change Healthcare unit resume operations.

The Minnetonka, Minnesota-based healthcare large stated that its medical claims preparation software program, Assurance, went again on-line early this week, and its largest clearinghouse, Relay Alternate, will resume operations on the weekend of Mar. 23.

“As soon as a important mass of payer connectivity has been established, we’ll activate claims processing for Assurance prospects,” UNH stated in a Friday replace.

“As of March 22, claims with greater than $14 billion in fees have been staged for processing by the Assurance software program,” the corporate added.

“Following activation of Assurance software program prospects, we’ll flip our consideration to the reactivation of all different Relay Alternate claims submitters.”

On Wednesday, UnitedHealth (UNH) stated that Assurance and Relay Alternate, Change Healthcare’s cloud-based companies for medical declare processing, had been “utterly rebuilt” after the cyber safety incident blamed on hacker group “Blackcat.”

Additionally on Friday, UNH up to date that it has superior greater than $2.5B in funding for care suppliers affected by the disaster, a large improve from the $2B superior funds the corporate introduced early this week.
