Months after the federal government elevated renewal fees for older automobiles, the transport ministry has raised the health take a look at charge for all motor automobiles older than 20 years to discourage individuals from conserving them.

The Ministry of Street Transport & Highways (MoRTH), in a modern notification issued on November 11, stated the upper charge slabs now start at 10 years for business automobiles, as an alternative of 15 years, bringing extra automobiles beneath the up to date price brackets.

It has created three clear age teams for health testing: 10-15 years, 15-20 years and above 20 years.

In keeping with the notification, the health take a look at charge for mild motor automobiles (LMVs) older than 20 years has been elevated to Rs 15,000 from Rs 10,000.

The notification has made steep revisions to the health take a look at charge for heavy vehicles and buses older than 20 years. They are going to now must pay Rs 25,000 for the health take a look at, from Rs 3,500 earlier.

Medium business automobiles in the identical age group will now must pay Rs 20,000, and the health take a look at of sunshine motor automobiles above 20 years will price Rs 15,000.

The health take a look at charge for two-wheelers above 20 years has additionally been elevated to Rs 2,000 from Rs 600 earlier.

The transport ministry, in its earlier notification in August this yr, elevated renewal fees for older automobiles.

In August, the Supreme Courtroom ordered authorities to not take coercive motion towards the homeowners of diesel automobiles which can be greater than 10 years previous and petrol automobiles older than 15 years within the Delhi-NCR.
