
Peter Lord and David Sproxton, co-founders of animation firm Aardman, which created characters together with Morph, have been knighted within the King’s 2026 birthday honours.
Launched as a kitchen desk mission in Bristol in 1972, Aardman is now a world success story due to TV and cinema hits like Wallace and Gromit.
In a joint assertion about their knighthoods, Lord and Sproxton mentioned:
“We each really feel it’s a unprecedented privilege and an honour – in addition to a whole and utter shock – to be recognised on this method. While the honour is being awarded to us as people, it actually displays on Aardman as an organization.
“Over 50 years we’ve got labored with a whole bunch, if not hundreds, of sensible individuals whose dedication, expertise and expertise have contributed to creating Aardman a globally recognised and multi-award-winning studio, and one regarded by many as a nationwide treasure right here within the UK. As we settle for these awards, we humbly bow and salute all of those that have joined us on this extraordinary journey.”
Among the many different entrepreneurs on the record are Christopher Hulatt, co-founder of funding agency Octopus Group, who receives an CBE, and David Fishwick, the founding father of Burnley Financial savings and Loans who impressed the Financial institution of Dave Netflix movies. He has been awarded an OBE.
David Fishwick mentioned:
“It’s simply fantastic that His Majesty the King has spent a while taking a look at what we’ve been doing and seen match to award us an OBE.
“It’s simply unbelievable. And from a lad from Burnley, who set off with completely no {qualifications} in anyway. I left faculty at 16, completely ineffective.”
