He is the grandson of a freedom fighter who once fought for India’s independence, and today, he fights a quieter but equally meaningful battle – for the future of India’s children – having chosen to walk away from a lucrative international career to come home and teach.
A Legacy Rooted in Sacrifice
Hadi’s commitment to the nation runs in his blood. His grandfather was a freedom fighter who gave his years to India’s independence movement, and his father has spent 50 years dedicated to education – a family tradition that traces back to 1976. For nearly five decades, this has been a family that chose service over self-interest. Hadi is simply the latest to carry that torch.
From Engineer to Educator, From Abroad Back Home
His own journey began as a Project Engineer at Indira Gandhi International Airport, where his technical excellence earned him a scholarship for higher studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. It was there, while pursuing advanced engineering education, that he first stepped into a classroom as a Lecturer – and something shifted.
He carried that path further into the Middle East, serving as an Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering, University – a well-paid, internationally respected academic position. But rather than settling into a comfortable career abroad, Hadi made a deliberate choice: he returned to India to serve his own country’s students, even going on to complete a law degree alongside his academic work, so he could bring a fuller, multidisciplinary perspective back home.
Choosing Service Over Salary
In an era when many highly qualified professionals choose to stay and settle abroad, Hadi’s decision to return – leaving behind a well-paying international position – reflects the same spirit of sacrifice his grandfather once showed for the country’s freedom. For him, education is the new freedom struggle: a fight against ignorance, inequality of opportunity, and outdated learning, fought not with arms, but with ideas.
What Teachers’ Day Means to Him
That philosophy shapes everything Hadi does today – as a school director guiding multiple institutions, and as an author of books and articles on teaching methodology, including a curriculum designed to build compassion in children from Nursery to Class 8 through animals, nature, games, and travel. His belief, echoed through his family’s legacy, is that education must build character curiosity and a responsible citizen – not just marks.
A Legacy Recognised, A Legacy Continued
His contribution to education has been publicly honoured, including an Education Award presented by the Deputy Chief Minister for his work strengthening education in Rampur. As the third generation of his family devoted to nation-building – first through freedom, then through education – Hadi represents a rare continuity of purpose.
This Teachers’ Day, as India honours its teachers, Muqarrab Hadi’s story stands as a reminder: some of the country’s quietest patriots are the ones who chose the classroom over the corner office, and their own country over a foreign paycheque.
